Website Rules Amendments Under Review
The Florida Supreme Court is currently in the process of revising Rule 4-7.6 of the Rules Regulating the Bar to change how The Florida Bar deals with attorney websites. The amendments would require attorney websites to comply with the general advertising rules found in Rule 4-7.2, which would limit the use of testimonials or reference to past results, among other things. On June 1, 2010, the Board of Governors requested that the Court adopt amendments to its proposed rule that would provide leeway for certain areas of a website to be considered “information provided upon request” and therefore subjected to a less stringent standard. The Court has agreed to stay implementation of the new rule until 90 days after it rules on the amendments proposed by the Board. More information.
