Polk County County Attorney This is a highly responsible professional and administrative position directing the provision of legal services for the County and reporting directly to the Board of County Commissioners. The County Attorney is responsible for handling significantly complex legal matters, overseeing the preparation and presentation of cases in higher courts and rendering legal opinions of significant impact or importance. Supervision is exercised over the County Attorney Office department staff, including the Deputy County attorney, assistant county attorneys and support staff. Work requires the exercise of considerable independent judgment in carrying out assigned duties and responsibilities. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor Degree and admitted to the State Bar of Florida as a member in good standing; minimum of ten (10) years experience as a Florida attorney, including five (5) years of local government related law experience in either a county attorney’s office or a municipal attorney’s office, or private firm equivalent.
